Sign Up here to be put on the list for the North Valley Par Meter

Guys and gals just a friendly reminder:
If you borrow the Par Meter you are responsible for picking it up and bringing it back on your designated dates from mclevenger10(Marty). I live in Fresno and will work with you the best that I can. Also, if you break the equipment you are responsible for replacing it (buying a new one). Thanks!

Since I've assumed the Property Officer position, my first order of business is to collect the necessary equipment from those who have it. After making sure all is in working order, I will be updating the list on the front page according to posts in this thread.

All of the established rules in the "CVR Equipment Rules" thread still apply. For the North Valley PAR Meter, I will be collecting and distributing it to those on the wait list. Francisco, you will be first on the list as soon as I get it back. Look for an updated list on the home page. I will contact you when it is ready to be picked up.

What is the conversion to LEDs? I read it is the reading in your multimeter multiplied by 5 but certain par meters don't require that conversion?

mclevenger10
10-24-2013, 10:42 PM
I am not 100% sure on the conversion. Jose knows I believe. Also, both par meters are here in Fresno. I can save one for you and give it to you at the frag swap? If you are going.

LED Conversion:

It is best if you can turn on each individual color and measure the par of each color. If you can not switch on and off each individual channel, go to the graph find each % error of all your colors (RB, Violet, Green, Red Etc) and add them up.

Example. RB 10% error, True Violet 40% error, Ocean Coral White ( 470 -5% error, 495 -5% error, 660 70% error) 60% error. This all totals to 110% (10% higher than your par readings)

Use this graph from Apogee's website http://www.apogeeinstruments.com/product_images/uploaded_images/mark10.jpg

Say you measuring royal blue LEDS (450-455nm) find 450-455 on the graph follow it up until you hit the blue line then follow it over to the relative response. If the blue line is above 1 that means that the meter reads that spectrum at a higher percentage. i.e 625nm reads 10% higher.

Example. If you used 450nm, you would get a relative response of .9 which means that the meter is only reading 90% of the light. Then take the inverse of that number (1-.9) = .1 (10%)

I.E. 250*.10=25

250+25=275

If 625nm and PAR reading is 100

100*.1=10
100-10 = 90

So at that spot you have a par of 275 in only the royal blue spectrum. Now repeat this process for all other channels of LEDs and add up your par readings to receive the par with all your lights on.

Hi Alexander, I've tried to answer your pm a couple of time but the messages don't show up in my sent folder so I'm not sure you're getting them. Can you text me if you don't see any pms from me? Area code is 901 and the phone number, broken up to avoid spam bots is 299 and then 6271. Thanks! Cathy

I'd like to check the PAR meter out for a few days. It'd be great if I can pick it up at the swap.

Thanks

Both par meters are loaned out of the Fresno area is that correct? Are they still the apogee yellow ones from a few years ago?

I am an hour south but do make it to Fresno at times. If anyone in Hanford/Visalia/Tulare has one that would be even better. I have some time off coming up late next week.

Feel free to text me any particulars. 559-589-5369

I have one par meter here in Fresno now. I believe Jose is coming to get it today, and then it's all you. The other one is in Merced. But yes, it's the apogee par meter, let me know when you might make it down to the Fresno area to pick it up.
