Privileges of Membership
Please remember that when you become a dues paying member of CVR that the priviliges of membership are yours and do not extend to others. You should not seek to list for sale, purchase from group buys or most particularly seek to use your club member discount at vendors for anyone other than yourself. Not your mom, your dad, your friend, your cousin or even your dog. Doing so is cause for either suspension or termination of membership privileges.
There was a recent incident a few days ago in which a member went into a lfs with a friend, and then when the friend went to pay the member used their CVR membership card to obtain a discount for their friend. The lfs honored the discount but then contacted me to inquire as to our policy. I confirmed that membership belongs to the member only, and that members should not be seeking to extend membership discounts or privileges to others.
This sort of behaviour is not fair to our sponsors, and is not fair to the club either. If your friends want the benefits of membership in CVR, you should encourage them to join the club and pay dues. The $20 dues that we pay is a small sum for the many benefits of the Club.
The member who did this was very open about it, and I am assuming it was done without realizing it was a rules violation. Therefore this notice is just a friendly reminder of the rules. Please follow the rules when using the benefits of membership. It's good for us and good for our sponsors.
