    Fluval Edge Nano Reef

I got this tank sitting around for a coupla months. I finally had a chance to set it up. Here is the info of tank itself:

    http://www.hagen.com/uk/aquatic/addinfo/fluval_edge.cfm

    Tank volume: about 6 gallons
    Lights: 2x18W T5HO
    Flow: powerfilter + 90gph pump

I only plan to put in some hardy corals, a small cleanup crew and maybe a shrimp. I always wanted a harlequin shrimp, so maybe one? I have plenty of tiny asterina starfish in the big tank.

I plan to do 80-90% waterchanges every week or two.

A few pics of progress over the last few days:

I would have to look it up, but I think I read somewhere that harlequins do best with a pair.

    John and Peter,
    Thank you.

    Dominic,
I don't think the flow, lighting and water conditions are suitable for SPS. Perhaps I'll try a monti cap, but it's mainly softies and a couple LPS and a few inverts.
The fixture is a Nova Extreme with a couple of Current bulbs. It used to be my lighting for my QT tank. The tank came with 3000K halogen bulbs, which I will swap out for LED replacement bulbs.
I may get a DA Reefkeeper Lite controller when the tank is ready for corals.

Anyone got some pom pom xenia to trade?

Interesting. How can you tell if they simply work together or if they are a true pair?

    Richard,
    Thanks.

Just kidding guys . I couldn't resist put in in some corals for a photo op. They were in and out of the nano within 2 hours. The nano is actually only having 4 hardy corals. It is never going to be heavily stocked.

I have to say Mihn, you are one of the two or three most inspirational people in our area these days for designing truly artistic tanks. This little mini is already a showpiece.

And here I only used to like you only because you drank beer.

    Ben,
    You're welcome.

    Peter,
I tell ya, beer and fish tank...not mutually exclusive . And I know there are quite a few exceptional tanks in the area that are simply stunning. I just hope some days they will join the club and share with us.

    Very nice tank.

All you need now is an MP10 for flow and you can really push for SPS in this tank. If you need to dose 2 part and setup an ATO unit.

Well whatever you do with this tank i am sure it will look great.

Wow, awesome tank. I remember seeing those in the LFS and wondering how they'd look setup as a reef. I really like it. Care to share some details on those LED's you installed? I've been thinking of incorporating them in my current build but I don't know much about them.

I really liked it with the Scoly, Acans and Chalice in your "photo op" pics. Would those corals do OK in this tank long term? It would be stunning to have such a small tank stocked with high end LPS like that!

    quick update

A few weeks ago, I had an incident. I put in a small Rose BTA and it met a small powerhead. Within a few hours, the nano got cloudy while I was at work. When I got home I did a quick water change, but a couple of corals and inverts did not survive. I will get rid of the remaining RBTA soon.

Anyways, here are some quick shots from today.
