    Entering the Saltwater World

    Hi everyone,

I am new to saltwater tanks and am thinking of setting up a tank myself. I do not know anything about saltwater and if anyone can help or advise me what to get or start with (tank size, fish, etc) that would be awesome. I am looking forward to a the saltwater world and hope to learn alot on this site.

    Thanks

    GL

Welcome to the site. As was mentioned before it comes down to how much room you have where you want to set up the tank. Here are my choices though based on length.

    2' long I'd go with a 26g bowfront
    3' long I'd go with a 40g breeder
    4' long I'd go with a 75g

Those are just common tanks. You could always have something made to a size you want. Once you have the size down then you can decide if you want an overflow or not.

One word of advice is don't get discouraged. You're just starting and theres going to be ALOT to learn and alot is going to get thrown at you from this site and others. Theres going to be times when you feel like you're failing and want to tear the whole thing down and give up but just keep at it as the end result is worth it.

I think a good way to start would be something like a biocube system or a redseamax system. They come all contained to run a nice system. Then when you are hooked you can really go crazy.

    Thanks all.

xlayedoutx you are right! I'm going into this blind and will need to do my homework. Getting discouraged is huge and I'm moviated to get my salt water tank going.

As of right now, I'm thinking about getting a 40 breeder with an overflow system. I have been looking at the 40 breeder and I think it is a good size and not to big. Any advice or help on these 40 breeders would be appreciated.

I have a 72 bow front in great shape that I might want to get rid of. It is rr includes canopy and stand no water damage at all. I need to finish cleaning it up and take some picks.
