This is a very emotional bill for many people on these islands. If you click the link in the "Snorkel Bob up to no good once again" thread, you can see both my take and Les from Wet Pets Hawaii. These are only two views from the 15+ that took the time to testify in front of the city council on Monday. Though it was a good day for us, it is not over. We have two more city council meetings to attend. One on Maui and another back on Oahu.

This bill is not "regulation", this is an all out ban.

#525. I hope things work out for you Kevin, considering it's your business. All banning will do is keep an honest person honest. And that's exactly what I put in my email to them. I used Florida's reptile ban as an example. They had banned exotic reptiles from coming into Florida. Now Florida has anacondas and pythons that have been dumped into the swamps, multiplied and is now part of the ecosystem. Had it been regulated instead of banned, perhaps those dishonest people would have perhaps taken them to a rescue/zoo rather than dumping them into a ecosystem when they became too much to handle. Sadly, the ban would only affect us honest people.
