Thank You CORALGASM
And Welcome as a CVR Super Sponsor
Let me tell you folks besides being two of the nicest guys I've ever met CoralGasm donated over $7000 worth of corals this weekend.
This is the single largest donation in CVR history and as a club we really need to show our appreciation.
Coralgasm, LLC
Purveyor of fine corals and the finest WYSIWYG corals in the USA.
Coralgasm is a purveyor of fine and exquisite corals with a simple goal……to make your aquarium as beautiful as you can imagine it. They pride themselves on choosing the best corals and harvesting them in ideal conditions, so every coral is healthy and lives a long life.
It all starts with the owners of the company, Mike Rooney, Carl Eby and Barry Peal. Mike grew up in Maryland, where he first became a master carpenter and finally settled in Port Saint Lucie, FL to be closer to family. There he honed his skills to manage the coral farm and custom tank set up business. His brother-in-law, Carl, who studied marine biology at the University of Maryland, also owns a local saltwater aquarium store, Fintastic Aquariums, in Jensen Beach, FL. Carl is an environmentalist at heart. He’s integrated his love of marine life with research, spending his early years at the Dolphin Research Center in Marathon, FL. Barry Peal is a Florida native and retired air force and commercial airline pilot. His passion for reef keeping is a natural gift. Together they make a great team and are able to supply everything to make your aquarium spectacular.
Coralgasm has a wide variety of “designer” corals at affordable prices. They also have access to rare and unique corals, thanks to their vast resources of customers and suppliers. “We have customers that are willing to part with their rare corals for a short time, so that we can frag a piece, harvest it, and share it with other coral lovers”, Mike explains, “That means we can satisfy a lot of special requests at good prices”. But prices are not all that separates Coralgasm from their competitors. Customer service and quality is also very important. Each coral is hand cut and cultivated until it has reached a maturity level ready for shipping. All orders are shipped within 24 hours, unless it is ordered on a Friday. It is especially important to Coralgasm that their corals arrive alive and healthy. “Growing coral is like nurturing a family”, Mike says, “and I wouldn’t want one of our kids to be in a stuck in a warehouse, over a weekend, waiting to be delivered”. Special deliveries can be arranged if necessary.
With a 1200 square foot frag farm that utilizes 16 tanks, an enhanced lighting system, a superior high tech water treatment system, and first quality nutrients, Coralgasm has everything needed to give you the finest quality-affordable corals available. Coralgasm is also environmentally conscious about natural reefs and make sure their corals are harvested under superior conditions. “We have a pass-it-on mentality, and that is why we spend so much time growing our frags for the most impact for customers, and the least impact on our oceans”, Carl states. With that in mind, Coralgasm also contributes to their community by donating to local environmental studies, schools and charities. “Giving back to our community is an important part of who we are”, Barry explains, “We want to be a positive influence”.
Coralgasm also does tank design and installation under the Fintastic Aquarium Tank Service leg of the business, making them a full service, one-stop-shop. While watching an episode of “Tanked™” on APL, Mike and Carl exclaimed, “That’s what we do!” Encouraged that their industry had a voice, they met Brett from Tanked™ at the MACNA 2011 show in Des, Moines, IA, and chatted about business and possibly working on some future projects together. “If you can think it, we can create it”, Mike remarked. “It is so satisfying to bring someone’s idea, of their ideal showpiece, to life”.
You’ll see Coralgasm at many shows around the country, including MACNA, SEA-MAX, MAX, and many frag swaps on the east coast—from Maine to FL. Coralgasm likes to go out and meet as many hobbyists as possible. Likewise, they invite anyone in the FL area to stop by and say “hello” if they are in the area.
Loving what they do for a living is clear from the quality of the corals they sell and the customer service they provide. Mike and Carl are two down-to-earth guys who want to provide the aquarium hobbyist with their dream corals to make their tank a showpiece. They are always available to answer questions and provide guidance about your tank questions. All corals are open and healed before shipping, but in the rare case that a coral is not up to your expectations upon arrival, they will make it right for you. When you are a customer of Coralgasm, you become part of the family.
