Outages 2018-02-23 and 2018-02-24

Hi all,

We made the server move, but one of the settings keeps resetting. I'm working with tech support to figure out why this is.

Geeky notes:
Granting privileges for our database user to our main database keeps disappearing. I set the privileges, and they're gone in 20 minutes to a couple of hours later. I've only got limited access to the server now as it is a shared host vs. our old VPS. (read: no root access) Thus, I have to involve our host's support vs. self diagnosis.

OK - we figured out what was going wrong. Our database is too large. It was over 2.2GB and our new host has a limit of 25 x 1GB databases. I did some cleaning and got us down to about 1.6GB... But the only way to get it under 1GB quickly was to disable searching. So we are back up and running, hopefully it won't shut down again, but search is disabled temporarily until I can find a new solution. Actually, not so much disabled so much as won't return results.

I'll continue working on it this week.

OK all, the new site should now be stable on the new server. I was able to split off some old database tables into their own database, delete a ton of spam that apparently was generated un-noticed back in 2012-2013, rebuild the search index tables, and we are now in compliance w/ the host. So search should work and the site should be stable. Let me know if you have problems!
