Poor girl, I took away 2 of her big anemones and left her with a wimp one who hides from the light. She was left with laying her eggs on the glass. Life is hard.

So what happens if you reach in there and try to touch the eggs with your hand? I've heard the maroon can actually draw blood. Please verify and get back to us....

ROTFL...Hey Jason, what do you think? she is so charming. When I took her rock with the anemone out, she jumped out of the water trying to get me. Of course when I put the rock in the other tank, low and behold, eggs. I put my hand anywhere near, and well, she's got one strong tail and a mean head punch. Last time, she missed me, hit the rock and tore her mouth.
Maroon clowns are some of the meanest fish I've seen. They carry a grudge as well.
They are VERY protective, but they are only aggressive with their anemones and eggs. I am amazed with their parenting behavior. When mom is swishing her tail and cleaning the sand, there are eggs. Look at the pics below and see the 'bare glass'. Also, notice how 'dad; (the gold banded maroom - much smaller) is the main protector; he guards, creates current, and even appears to gently "kiss" the eggs. They are very good parents. Too bad the fry get eaten by everyone.
these pics are great. thank you so much for sharing!
What do they do if the mag float decides he wants an omlete? LOL.
Awesome pics. Kind of cool to witness the miracle of life in ways other than child birth within our own species.
Are you going to try to separate the fry to see if you can get any to survive?
I would love to try to get some to live, but.....issues with sump and new skimmer right now. But, she always has eggs. Some day.
