SPS.....its like the crystal meth of the ocean.... it all starts with the gateway drugs like mushrooms and leathers then once your super addicted you go for bigger and better hi's like acros and millis... then you strive for that same feeling you got when you try'd your first frag , but no matter how much money you spend or work and effort you put in ...the color can never be bright enoughh polyps are never extended enough and they never grow fast enough...

HAHA... diddnt mean to hijak thats just wat poped in my head when i think of the jump to sps "everyone" makes at some point in there reef lives..

Tank(s): 75g Left corner overflow, Mixed reef
Lights: 2-250w phoenix 14k on M80 Ballast in CaymanSun DE Reflectors...Woop!

There are also better corals to start off with. The Montipora family is a good one to start with, lots of different colors, growth patterns, and very tollerant of conditions...to an extent. Birdsnest is another that is usually pretty solid. LPS is a good starter, a lot of cool corals that blend the softie and SPS families. But all this is a moot point if conditions are not right. Wate chemisrty may be the most important thing on the reef.
